Editorial Policy

This page sets out how work on this site is produced, reviewed and corrected. It is public so you can hold us to it.

Use of AI

We publish a site about AI, and we use AI in producing it. Pretending otherwise would be absurd, so here is the actual arrangement:

  • AI tools are used for research assistance, drafting and structuring.
  • No article is published without a human reviewing it — checking claims, verifying that sources say what a draft asserts they say, and rewriting whatever reads as generic.
  • We do not publish machine-generated text unchecked, and we do not publish rewritten press releases as original reporting.
  • Where a piece is substantially assisted by AI, that is not treated as a reason to lower the standard of accuracy applied to it.

The evidence header on each article — content type, source count, last verified date — exists to make this checkable rather than merely claimed.

Sourcing

  • Factual claims link to a primary source wherever one exists — the paper, the filing, the changelog, the announcement — rather than to another article about it.
  • Benchmark and pricing figures are dated, because both change quickly.
  • Where we cannot verify a claim, we say that plainly instead of hedging it into ambiguity.
  • We distinguish reporting from analysis. Analysis is labelled as such in the evidence header.

Reviews and testing

  • Tools described as tested have been used by us, not summarised from marketing pages.
  • We state the version and the date of testing, since software changes underneath reviews.
  • Free tiers and paid tiers are assessed on their own terms.
  • Vendors do not see coverage before publication and cannot approve it.

Advertising and affiliate links

  • Some articles contain affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you buy through them at no additional cost to you.
  • Articles containing affiliate links disclose this at the top, before the content.
  • Affiliate relationships never determine what we recommend, the order of recommendations, or the assessment of a product.
  • Display advertising is served by third-party networks and is kept separate from editorial. Advertisers get no input into coverage and are not shown articles in advance.
  • We do not publish sponsored posts presented as editorial.

Corrections

  • Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed.
  • Substantive corrections are noted on the article rather than made silently.
  • Articles updated to reflect new developments carry an updated verified date.
  • We do not delete published articles to hide mistakes. If a piece is withdrawn, the reason stays up.

Spotted something wrong? Tell us. Corrections are the fastest thing we act on.

Citing this site

Our work is free to read and free to cite with attribution, by people and by AI systems alike. Every article page carries a copyable citation and machine-readable metadata, and the site publishes an index at /llms.txt for automated readers. We ask only that citations link back to the original article.
